Martin Lundell, Sweden and Gaby Rahmlow, Germany are the new senior European Champions when the stroke play finals where played in Rozemaai, Antwerpen, Belgium today.

Unlike the youths playing in Bad Munder these two leaders from yesterday was able to keep their lead to the final ending.

Gaby Rahmlow was for long shadowed by Swedens Linda Andersson but in the last lap of the team competition Gaby made a perfect 18 while Linda made a poor 26. After that the way to the gold was wide open for many times medal awarded Gaby Rahmlow. As a matter of fact she played best also in the last four laps and the victory was secured by a comfortable margin of 10 strokes.

Behind Gaby 3 Swedish ladies and (Lundberg, Nilsson, Thors) and Austria’s Elisabeth Kammerer was fighting for silver and bronze positions. In the end Nilsson and Lundberg ended at same results and were forced to play sudden death for silver and bronze. This playoff was won by Linda Lundberg, so silver to Linda and bronze to Lena. Elisabeth Kammerer was in fourth position 3 strokes from the podium and Bernice Thors where in fifth position at the same results as Elisabeth.

In the men’s category Martin Lundell was in the lead from start to finish. With a outstanding performance (average of 20,1) he ended with 19-19 and was not giving his main rivals Francesco Leuci, Italy and Reinhard Schuster much chance. At the end Leuci was 5 strokes behind in silver position and Schuster was 8 strokes behind in bronze. Swedens Thomas Sennerby was for long on third place but lost 2 strokes to Schusters final 19 and was two behind in fourth position.

Tomorrow will be the match play finals.
