Arheilgen successfully defends their title in DMV Pokal

When the Final 4 teams meet in Bad Münder this weekend Arheilgen was
successfully defending their title. The DMV Pokal is now played for the second time and is a marathon tournament played over 2 years. This time the tournament started already in 2009 with the regional qualifications. Then continued for another qualification 2 weekends in 2010 for the final four this weekend.
In the first semi-final, Arheilgen stod against Castropand prevailed with 6-4. The perhaps most surprising was the two points won by youngster Philipp Lange against Andreas Schneider.
In the other semi-final Kerpen won against MGC Cologne. Two pairs of each club brought home safely. In the fifth Cologne led three lanes before the end. Then on lane 16 Stefanie could bring Kerpen in front. With an ace on the last lane she leave here opponent Lukas Eisleben no chance of winning.
On Sunday, defending champion Arheilgen took a 8-2 home safe and secured to the DMV Cup overall victory.
The battle for 3rd place was more exciting. After Round 1 Cologne and Castrop each had chances to win two pairs. The decision would fall in the game between Sabine Klein (Cologne) and Philipp Lange (Castrop). Philipp did not play as successful as on Saturday against Andreas Schneider. Although he had after the first round 13 stroke in front, he showed in Round 2 a bit nervousness and lost eight stokes. Sabine could not bring here good performance in the final round over the end and had to admit defeat. Victory and third place for Castrop. Two years ago Cologne was in the final but now they had to cope with rank 4. » Results of qualification
