When Askim should arrange their fourth international MOS competition they did it together with their neighbor Gothenburg club Gullbergsbro that build their course last fall. So this time the competition was 4 rounds in Slottskogen (Askim) on Saturday and 4 rounds in Kärralund (Gullbergsbro) on Sunday.
It was soon clear after the training that the Slottskogen courses was 3-4 strokes more difficult per round than the newly build course in Kärralund.
After Saturday the home player Patrik Wessman from Gullbergsbro took a firm grip of the title in the men’s class by a brilliant series of 40-39-40-43. Only one stroke behind the national team member Lars Brown of Uppsala chased though. On Sunday Patrik had a bad first round of 41, letting Lars take over the lead by a 37 round, but then he showed that his training on the new courses had given results and by the finishing rounds of 38-37-36 he won by 4 strokes. Third place went to Jens Bergström, Tuve after acing lane 4 in sudden death against Erik Hjalmarsson, Skönsberg.
But the best player of the competition was found in the Oldboys category. The younger of the home club brother Niord Roger showed a impressive game all over the competition and with three rounds of 39-44-40-40-37-35-37-41 = he was one stroke better than Wessman. He also now holds the course record on the Gullbergsbro course with 35 together with Lars Josepfsson and Erk Hjalmarsson. Second amongst the oldboys and third in the overall ranking was the older brother Niord, Reine with 317 strokes.
