WC 2015 in Lahti, Finland?

This Friday WMF announced that they have received an application to arrange the 2015 World Championship in Lahti Finland at Lahti Minigolf Centre Laune. The tournament is to be played on Felt and Eternit from the 19-22 of August 2015.

The Finnish Minigolf Federation has applied to arrange also 2013 WC Juniors and 2014 EC Oldtimers on the same courses.

The arranger has announced that they would not like to arrange a Nations Cup due to the likely low amount of players. Instead they would like to arrange a open international tournament.

The law in Finland says that towns (and streets) officially have two names, one in Finnish and the other in Swedish, if more than 8% of residents speak Swedish as their native language. Lahti has more than 8% Swedish-speaking residents I guess (or had in recent history), so it has two official names: Lahti and Lahtis.

Name is fixed now. I guess I used the Swedish name which includes an s. Sorry :)

Lathis? The town is called "Lahti". If you wan't to see better pictures of the lanes or something go to http://www.minigolflahti.fi/index.php?id=1. Lanes are nice, felt course is long but quite easy and eternite is eternite. It's OK. I think this place needs this kind of competition and here's why: perfect resort, good courses, all in all a nice place quite near the central BUT. The place is still very young so they don't have a club or players it's only business. An international competion could bring some attention for the start of a new club in Finland. And this is the kind of a place that will produce TOP players. All it needs is a spark. And it's time for some felt again!! =)
