WMF President attends a new miniature golf course opened in Swietajno-Gize, Masuria.

In the lovely Marczak family resort close to Swietajno, Masuria a new minigolf course was opened on 14th June 2013. At the event the 18-lane Miniaturegolf course also received approval by the World Minigolf Sport Federation for use as an official tournament course.

At the official opening ceremony more than 100 honorary guests and over 100 school children were in attendance to play the course and find out more about the sport of minigolf.

WMF President Dr. Gerhard Zimmermann was one of the main speakers at the event and was proud to welcome together with the most important local politicians, the presidents of the three Polish minigolf clubs (Sopot, Kolobrzeg, Krynica) as well as Verners Kirss as representative of the Latvian minigolf federation.

WMF President Dr. Gerhard Zimmermann stated in his official speech "Here at the Marczak family resort we find a very beautiful area for recreation and leisure time with an internationally approved minigolf course integrated in natural surroundings. It's our strong wish based on the geographical location of this new course that our partners and friends in Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine will be motivated to support and develop minigolf sport in this region."

He added "I would like to assure officials and players in Poland on behalf of the World Minigolf Sport Federation that I will personally support and intensively monitor the progress of the Polish minigolf federation to get recognition as an official sport in Poland."

A full team from Poland will participate in the Minigolf World Championships in Bad Münder, Germany in August 2013. The WMF is looking forward to the formation of a new minigolf sport federation in Poland in the near future.
