The new season started in Germany in September and the 1st Bundesliga match took place on the concrete course in Nümbrecht on the 8th of September.
You may ask: Whereabouts in Germany is Nümbrecht? It's a small town, a spa, 40 km East of Cologne.
It was another rainy day in Germany. It was raining heavily in the early morning, then drizzeling, but from early afternoon on it was dry, so the tournament could be hold regularly, but it was cut to 2 out of 4 rounds.
The women's teams were dominated by Mainz, the vice champion of the last season, who won in an absolutely convincing manner with 168 (ø 28.0). Göttingen, last season's champion, reached the 2nd place with 195 (ø 32.5), followed by Olching with 199 (ø 33.2). On the 4th place Bensheim-Auerbach followed with 203 (ø 33.8) in front of the newcomer Schwaikheim/Ludwigshafen with 211 (ø 35.2) on the 5th place. Cuxhaven had a very bad day and ended up on the last place.
Alice Kobisch was the best player of the day with 51 (ø 25.5), even better than the men.
Arheilgen, with the new strokeplay World Champion Achim Braungart-Zink and the matchplay World Champion Dennis Kapke, had a good start and took the lead after the 1st round, but Hardenberg was only 3 shots behind. Hardenberg started with a 24 of Timo Greiffendorf in the 2nd round and took the lead, Arheilgen couldn't catch up again, so Hardenberg won the match with 338 (ø 28.2), 4 shots ahead of Arheilgen.
Kai Dorner had a bad start and was replaced by Robin Hettrich in the 1st round, resulting in a 37 for his team Dormagen-Brechten. That was just one shot too much at the end to reach a 3rd place. That went to Niendorf, the team from Hamburg, who attracted the Dane Allan Schwab as a new player. So Niendorf were on the 3rd place with 363 (ø 30.3), only one shot ahead of Dormagen-Brechten.
Mainz had a 39 of Max Herrmann in the 2nd round and lost many shots on Dormagen-Brechten and Niendorf, so only reached a 5th place with 366 (ø 30.5).
The promoted team from Künzell, well-known as the host of the Senior's European Championship in 2011, ended up on the last place, but only 7 shots behind Mainz. It's always very difficult for a new team to prove oneself in the Bundesliga. They have the chance to win some points at the next match on the concrete course of their home course. The promoted team in the Bundesliga is the only one having a match on their home course. This will take place on the 22nd of September.
