Official WMF News Flash:
WMF Board Meeting in Munich, Germany – 28th - 30th March 2014
More than 20 different topics were discussed during the three-day WMF Board Meeting in Munich, Germany.
Among these were the financial report for 2013, forecast for 2014 and other financial issues, rulebook changes, membership improvement, ball approval aspects and anti-doping issues.
The Board accepted membership applications from Spain and Malaysia to be elected as new members during the next Delegate’s Conference. Also a change of our existing member in Cyprus will be proposed to the next Delegate’s Conference.
It was decided to award the Youth European Championships 2015 to Ostrava (Czech Republic) and 2017 to Askim (Sweden), with the Youth World Championships 2016 to Bischofshofen (Austria).
General class World Championships 2017 could not be awarded at all, as the WMF is planning to organise them in co-operation with SportAccord in a location allocated to us by SportAccord as part of a new marketing concept.
A very important issue regarding the organisation of the Youth Nations Cup in an U23 format in future was also discussed. A decision will be taken after details of the format have been proposed by the Youth Committee and the Technical Committee.
It was also decided to engage volunteers – with minigolfers to use social media tools more actively for minigolf promotion worldwide.
Mr G Zimmermann – WMF President – has informed the Board about his meetings with SportAccord President Mr M Vizer and the very positive outcome of a promising closer co-operation in a number of areas.
Full minutes of the Board Meeting will follow in the next few weeks.
