On Sunday June 1st 2014 MGC Oirschot became Dutch Champion teams (for the 4th time in a row). The 4th match out of 5 was held at the eternitecourse of MGC De Vrije Slag in Wageningen. With just 1 match to go Oirschot can’t miss the title anymore.

Before the match a lot of firework was predicted, to end the unbeaten status of Oirschot, who won all 3 matches until now. Hometeam of De Vrije Slag, runner-up in the tables was going to do everything they could to win their homematch.

But playing on homesoil isn’t always a advantage, the pressure is a little bit higher and the players think they must win. That also means they can only lose and that is just what happened. De Vrije Slag had to settle for only the 5th place and the hope of winning the title was gone.

A lot better things happened with MGC Drachten: with 2 youthplayers (Youri and Jarno Bottenberg) inside the team they managed to finish together with MGC Oirschot on first place of the day. Appelscha, another team with many young talents inside finished third, 19 strokes behind Oirschot and Drachten. Zoetermeer finished 4th.

Insiders know that Tom Pardaans is missed inside the team of Ridderkerk. Another last place meant the virtual relegation for Holeridders. Only a miracle on the last competitionday can save them.

Man of the Match today: Rick Peeters of MGC Drachten with 85 strokes. Also Ruud Slappendel (86) and Theo Hendriksen (87) had a good result.

MGC Oirschot popped the champagnecorks and can start the preparations for the European Cup in Schriesheim (Germany) next October. And another new Championshipball "MGC Oirschot Landskampioen 2014" is already ordered.

The teamplayers of MGC Oirschot are: Martin van Holland, Ilona de Kok, Chris Campfens, Natasja Klarenbeek, Steven Steiger, Hans Verkooijen and Jeroen van Holland. Coaches are Peter Joost Middag en Loes van Gisbergen.
