News report by Günter Inmann:
The general class took also place at the same time as the Youth championships at the
new courses in Voitsberg, Styria. Also the modus was the same. 4 rounds on every
course for strokeplay, then 16 women and 32 men fighting in matchplay at Friday and
Saturday.
In womens class it looked for a long time (until 6th round) for a fight between
Gruber Lisa, Haberl Evelyn and Helm Jennifer, not counting with a good run of Heschl
Birgit in last 3 rounds. At the end it was a tough match for gold between Lisa and
Evelyn with a winning of Lisa with 228 (25,00/32,00) and 4 points before Evelyn with
232 (25,50/32,50) and another 10 before Birgit who overtook Jenny in last round for
the bronze medal with 242 (27,00/33,50).
Mens class showed also a tough competition until the last round with an upcoming,
but at the end unlucky player on 4th place. The results on eternit showed the
difficulty of this course with a lot of red results and until the end no blue ones
and just 2 times 20! The reigning Champion from 2013, Inmann Günter, was in top 3
from beginning and improved as longer the competition became. So Inmann Günter won
with 203 (23,00/27,75) and 6 points before Westenthaler Rupert 209 (22,75/29,50) and
Lindmayr Manfred 209 (21,50/30,75) which had to play sudden death for silver and
bronze medal, which Rupert won. On fourth place, for a long time playing in top 3
for a medal in his first year in general class was Danner Markus with 213
(23,00/30,25).
In the matchplay of women there were all 3 medalists plus one big surprise named
Schleich Viktoria, in half finals.
The several times Champion Gruber Lisa went into final with a run of 9:1, 8:3 and
5:4, playing against Heschl Birgit, she had matches of 6:3, 8:3 and 7:6. After a
great start of Birgit and a 3:0 after 9 eternit lanes Lisa fighted back and won 6:4
and took the double of stroke – and matchplay for first time in Austrian female
minigolf history. In the small final the surprise of the competition Schleich
Viktoria (13th of 18 women in strokeplay!) showed her best to take the bronze medal
with a 6:2 against the reigning World Champion Haberl Evelyn!
The mens class showed an impressive winning of Weber Heinz with just big wins of
7:3, 8:4, 6:1, 7:0 and at least 5:2 in the final against again second placed
Westenthaler Rupert who came into final with 7:1, 4:0, 3:1 and 5:3. The small final
was an unlucky fight for the 4th placed Steiner Adriano. He was leading 4:2 before
last 3 lanes on felt and at the end he lost all 3 lanes and bronze medal against
Lackner Andreas with a 4:5. » results, strokeplay » results, matchplay
