Italia League 2nd day: Vergiate back to victory

The 2nd day of the Italian league has been played last weekend in Paderno, the historical course that hosted European Championships in 1988.

About the male event, after 1st day surprise with GSP Cusano victory and GSP Vergiate only in third place, it came back to normality with a victory for the title holder of GSP Vergiate.

They dominated the tournament from start to finish with a very good average of 21,6 which is really good on this course, that is quite old and not so easy and regular as it was in the past.
Vergiate only suffered a little bit of pressure from MT Amatese in the first two rounds, because at half tournament they were only 2 strokes behind Vergiate. But Amatese perfomance was not so good in the second part of the tournament, so that they also lost the 2nd place.
GSP Cusano, after a bad start (4th place after two rounds) got a very good comeback in the last two rounds and managed to catch the 2nd place with a very close match with Amatese, that was decided only at 17th lane of the 4th round, the very difficult "central hill" of Paderno which is probably one of the most difficult in the world.
The 2nd place is very important for Cusano, because they can arrive at the last day with 2 points advantage on GSP Vergiate.

Cusano and Vergiate are the only two teams that have chances to win the league in the last day: the team that will be better in Algund, felt course, on 26th May will be also the league winner.
It will be a very exciting day!

This is the final ranking of the men event:

1 G.S.P. VERGIATE 130 129 132 127 21,6 518
2 G.S.P. CUSANO 138 139 129 135 22,5 541
3 M.T. AMATESE 130 131 138 144 22,6 543
4 M.C. MONZA 147 128 145 141 23,4 561
5 S.V. LANA RAIKA 149 141 147 135 23,8 572
6 G.S.P. LOZZA 165 137 147 130 24,1 579

The female tournament has not been the usual easy win by GSP Cusano.
The good performance by the home team of MMC Paderno, match to the bad day of GSP Cusano, offered a very close match between the two teams.
In the end, the more experienced players of GSP Cusano could take the win but with a very narrow margin of three strokes.
Third place for MC Monza.

This is the final ranking of ladies event:

1 G.S.P. CUSANO 76 71 68 77 24,3 292
2 M.M.C. PADERNO 72 68 74 81 24,6 295
3 M.C. MONZA 78 80 73 77 25,7 308
4 G.S.P. VERGIATE 86 83 96 88 29,4 353

So, this is the situation of the league after DAY 2:

MALE TEAMS

1. G.S.P. CUSANO 21 PTS.
2. G.S.P. VERGIATE 19 PTS.
3. M.C. MONZA 14 PTS.
4. M.T. AMATESE 10 PTS.
5. G.S.P. LOZZA 6 PTS.
6. S.V. LANA 4 PTS.

FEMALE TEAMS

1. G.S.P. CUSANO 24 PTS.<
2. M.C. MONZA 16 PTS.
3. M.M.C PADERNO 16 PTS.
4. G.S.P. VERGIATE 10 PTS.

The best player of the day is, by far, Ivan Baruscotti (Vergiate) with a very good score of 81 strokes. He also managed to score a 18 round, which was missing in Paderno course since many years.
