Persson breaks record in Landskrona

Sweden 22 Mar 2009 at 21:39 | Published by: Nimalu | Views: 7098 | News search

Persson breaks record in Landskrona Today, the Tour final was played in Landskrona (southern Sweden) at their 18-holes felt course. The course is of an average standard but as Jan-Åke Persson, Sjövikens IF, played today, you could almost believe he was playing on a eternite course.

Starting off the first 3 rounds with 23-22-24, he was qualified for the semifinal, where he followed up with a round of 20...! Total 89 on 4 rounds is a fantastic new course record, not less than 8 strokes better than the old one (held by national team player Fredrik Persson, Granhyddans BGK).

Unfortunately for Jan-Åke, he played his only bad round in the final against teammate Lars-Peter Nilsson and lost 31-30. Although Jan-Åke "only" reached 2nd place, he was still 7 strokes better than next player in the overall average, but thats the way the KO-system can be.....

Jan-Åke had a great winter, scoring amazing results also on the eternite course in Olofström and it will be intresting to see what he can achieve at the upcoming Nordic Championships in Finland in a few weeks.

Another impressive game was also performed by the comeback man of this winter Björn Andersson, BGK Linjen on an average of 25,4 (26, 28, 22, 29, 22). Björn was a Swedish National Team player between 1983 and 1989 but has since then had a long break from Minigolf.
