Portuguese National Championship - everything tied

Portugal 05 Apr 2009 at 22:44 | Published by: agcampos | Views: 6905 | News search

Portuguese National Championship - everything tied This week the second part of the national championship of Portugal was played in Lisbon. With temperatures around 30 degrees, the course of EC2006 received more a less 100 players.

After 3 rounds of beton and 3 of eternit in Porto and Lisbon (total of 12) the results are much tied so the title is open. In first there are three players with 316. Rui Garcia and João Nabais both from MC Portugal and Pedro Carvalho, who was in the lead in Porto, from CM Porto. The difference between the 1st and the 6th is only 6 strokes.

Manuela Pinheiro, who was leading the ladies class with a comfortable margin, had to quit after some personal problems and the classification in the class changed a lot. Now, Cristina Fernandes from MC Ermesinde, with 377 is 1ST.
The junior class is almost decided with a great result of 321 of Tiago Pinto which has a difference of 25 strokes for the second place.
Sebastião Campos continues in first but the difference between the two first places is now only of 2 strokes.

This is maybe one of the best championships of the last years and everything is going to be decided in the last 6 rounds that will take place in Lamego where is going to be played the SEM this year.
