Tough 17th, Örkelljunga, gave Uppsala the lead

Sweden 18 May 2009 at 09:55 | Published by: Hans | Views: 7530 | News search

Tough 17th, Örkelljunga, gave Uppsala the lead It was a known fact already before start that the tough felt course in Örebro would be claiming some victims. Especially lane 17, the Örkelljunga with green in angel, gave the players headache with its average of 3,26 and no less than 15 sevens during the weekend.

In the last game between BKG Jönköping and Uppsala the two last players in Jönköping ended with a 4 and a 7 on this lane 17th and the two last players in Uppsala made a 2 and a 3. This turned the match around giving Uppsala the match by one point, and also gave them the lead in table after the first round with 12 points.

As expected before the weekend it was to be a narrow series with lots of tight games. Anyhow it's no big surprise that Uppsala and Jönköping are in the top after the first round. Maybe more surprising is that Skoghall is on third place with 10 points. Felt specialist Filiph Svensson led his Skoghall to victory in all matches except the two top teams. The most disappointing result this weekend was made by Tantogården that was really missing their star player Pierre Zetterlund. Tantogården was the only team beating Uppsala on Saturday, but stayed on 5 points after a series of disappointing matches.

Team of the weekend was; Martin Sjöberg, Jönköping (31,4), Carl-Johan Ryner, Uppsala (31,6), Filiph Svensson, Skoghall (32,0), Anders Olsson, Uppsala (32,1) and Jonas Gustavsson, Jönköping (32,6).

Probably the most "interesting" round of elitserien i ever coached, no match was for sure a loss/win before the last shot was made!
