The Dutch Minigolf Federation, FNMB, follows the trend of the last couple of years and decided to organize a special matchplay championship next year. The reason to do this is to keep up with the international trend and positive feedback from players at different matchplay tournaments in the small country. Already in 2009 the Dutch combi championships included matchplay.

The first Dutch matchplay championships are scheduled in the weekend of 24/25 april 2010 and will be played at the courses of MV Meppel in Meppel. The choice of the federation does not mean it will be played instead of the 'normal' championships. Besides this tournament the Dutch also have seperate championships for eternite, concrete, combi and clubteams.

At the moment it is not known yet if the 'normal' championships will also include matchplay to get to the winners.
