Birmingham’s Chris Harding picked up his 2nd consecutive minigolf win of the season with a 54-hole score of 88(-20) at the British Minigolf Association’s BMGA English Open competition held on Sunday 28th February at the Jungle Rumble Indoor Adventure Golf course at Cabot Circus, Bristol.

34 British Minigolf Association (BMGA) Tour players, along with a number of local players took part in the event, which also saw BMGA Tour rookie Michael Smith from Oxford achieve 2nd place in his 2nd tournament after winning a four-player play-off after scoring 97(-11). John Moore from Newcastle finished 3rd, with Kent’s Sean Homer in 4th and Bath’s Kevin Moseley in 5th. Defending English Open Champion Nick Chitty just missed out on the play-offs and had to settle for 6th place after scoring 99(-9).

Chris Harding’s rounds were 28(-8), 29(-7) and 31(-5). The rounds of 28 and 29 are new BMGA Course Record scores for the ‘Jungle’ and ‘Secret Swamp’ courses respectively. John Moore also hit a 29 on the ‘Secret Swamp’ to share the record.

Cambridge’s Adam Kelly took the junior English Open title, with Michael Smith picking up the Novice title. Richard Skeggs took the runner-up Novice slot in 7th place overall. The 3rd place Novice position was fought out in a play-off between Bristol players David Wright and Daryl Parsons, with David picking up the win. Cwmbran’s Seve Kukielka took the Aces Prize for most holes-in-one with 16 across the three rounds.

The next tournaments on the BMGA Tour are the BMGA British Masters in New Malden, followed by the Midlands Open and BMGA British Doubles Championships in Stratford Upon Avon in April, with the BMGA Scottish Open in Aberdeen in May.
