Austria celebrates "Minigolf Tag"

Austria 28 Apr 2010 at 11:18 | Published by: Hans | Views: 7213 | News search

Austria celebrates "Minigolf Tag" Two years ago (2008) the delegate's conference of OEBGV decided have a special day to promote Minigolf all around Austria. On this day, there is not a single tournament happening in whole Austria. This year that is the first year when this day is celebrated its the 2nd of May and it was chosen, because it is quite at the beginning of the season.

Willy Bauer, member in the Austrian Federation board, explains that there are 46 clubs participating on the "Minigolf Tag 2010". They all get flyers with addresses to all the courses in their region, posters, forms where guests should fill their data's in.
Stickers with the Minigolf Tag 2010 logo as give-aways for long term promotion.

They also get some Minigolf balls for free as prices for guest tournaments. The three clubs that deliver the most addresses from guests will get a ball set and a putter as reward.

The idea behind was not to let people play rounds for free, but to teach the basics of Minigolf and promote the sport side. The website (link below) is online since two weeks and a great success so far.

We have numerous articles in online and print magazines promoting the "Minigolf Tag 2010", Willy sums up.

This a great idea and something we in Sweden should take after! We had a similar thing going for a cpl of years ago but for some reason it just stopped. The day we had was called "Bangolfens dag" or the day of minigolf and we did collect money for charity at the same time..
