Austria rules at "Val di Fiemme" (Nations Cup) in Predazzo

Austria rules at "Val di Fiemme" (Nations Cup) in Predazzo

This weekend in Predazzo the international tournament "Val di Fiemme" replaced the usual Nations' Cup tournament for elite players.
The tournament has been played on 4 combi rounds on concrete+miniaturegolf course that will host European Elite Championships in August.
Some beautiful sunshine days, after almost one month of uninterrupted rain, let players have a very good practice test and regular competition, looking forward to the main event.

9 teams were starting in the tournament: 3 teams from home country, Italy, 2 teams from Austria, 1 team from Sweden, 1 team from Slovakia, and then two mixed teams, one for Germany (3 players + 1 italian because Germany could not have his 4th player) and one for Finland (2 finnish + 2 italians).

The tournament showed some very good results and a double victory for Austria which got both 1st and 2nd place with its two teams. The winning team was formed by Manfred Lindmayr, Elisabeth Gruber, Günter Inmann and Heinz Weber, with a total of 839 strokes (26,2 average) and a big margin on the 2nd team, formed by Bernd Gaida, Karin Heschl, Mario Dangl and Christian Gobetz, which scored a total of 869 strokes (27,2 average) .
Third place for the "German+Italian" team that was better than the first Italian team by just 3 points. Italy 1, formed by Luca Dellasega, Anna Bandera, Paolo Porta and Rudi Giroldini, had a close match with Austrian teams for the top place until the end of 1st day, but not a second day as good as first, so when they lose contact with top place the also lose some motivation to "save" a podium place. 5th place for the Swedish team made by Filip Svensson, Maria Olsson, Sandra Bengtsson, John Widlert.

As regards individual results, it was an absolutely outstanding result by Manfred Lindmayr, which scored a total of 115 strokes (28,75 average) on concrete and 80 strokes (20,00 average) on miniaturegolf, obtaining a victory with massive gap on all the other player. 17 strokes behind him we find Heinz Weber (Austria), Oleg Klassen (Germany) and Günther Inmann (Austria). From 2nd to 14th place we have 13 players in just 7 strokes, so it was a very close tournament...except Manfred.

The individual ladies ranking has seen a home victory with Anna Bandera that got a very good total score of 214 strokes (would have been 5th in the male ranking) getting the victory over two international top class players like Maria Olsson (Sweden, 217 strokes ) and Elisabeth Gruber (Austria, 220 strokes).

The best round results were played by following players:
CONCRETE: 26 strokes by Manfred Lindmayr (Austria)
MINIATUREGOLF: 19 strokes by Paolo Porta (Italy), Elisabeth Gruber (Austria), Anna Bandera (Italy), Manfred Lindmayr (Austria) and Christian Gobetz (Austria).

Tournament ended with a lot of prices for all players, the best way from Minigolf Club Predazzo to invite all to the European Championships that will take place in August.
