Goals
To start every year, I write about my goals. For the last season, I wanted to get a top15 finish at a singles strokeplay tournament, and I achieved that at the second event of the year in Cardiff (12th). In the end, I could repeat that twice with the WCGC Novice (13th) and at the Cornwall Open (4th).
For 2022:
- I want to get a top10 finish somewhere at a singles strokeplay event.
- Have a top3 finish in Category 3 or get an aces prize at one of the events. It will be hard as we’ll have plenty of talented new players this year, but it’s a good challenge.
- Hit a new personal best score on an 18 hole course. At the moment it’s 33. On a 12 hole course, I already made a new personal best this year from 24 to 22. :)
- Achieve Category 2 status at the BMGA.
This year I’ll be pickier about which event I’m going to play, simply because of financial reasons. I want to play mainly those courses which are not too far from me, the 3 majors, and a few events outside of the UK. I’m especially looking forward to play the Balaton Cup, it will be nice to have an event in Hungary.
Ace of Spades Minigolf Open
The last event we had was in December, not so long ago, but I was feeling the need to play again, even if that means being outside when the weather is cold. Marton, my friend came with me, it was his debut strokeplay for the Welsh Minigolf Club. On Saturday morning we met with frosty conditions on the course, but it didn’t hold us back from the practice. End of the day I scored 4 rounds and I’ve got 25,24,24,27 (12 holes).
We spent the whole day with practice, but on Sunday the course felt different, and I wasn’t so confident before the start. However I started with a good 24, and I continued with a great 22. It’s a big milestone for me, as it’s not just my first score under par on a 12 hole course, but I’ve never had a round before where I didn’t have a dropped shot. Now I just have to repeat it more times. :) I was joint 2nd at this moment, but my luck changed for the second half of the competition, in the 3rd I scored 28. Last round 26, and overall I’ve got the same points as I had during the practice. I finished 12th, I missed out on the top10 by 1 point (again).

It was a great day, and even I was feeling a bit disappointed because of the last 2 rounds, it was still a nice improvement compared to my first tournament here (my average was 30.3 in July, now it was 25).
The next tournament in the UK will be the Welsh Minigolf Club Invitational. If you are interested to take part in it, you can find the details here:
