Inmann to play for MC Olten

The Austrian National Team player Günter Inmann will change his club from his current Austrian club UBGC Dornbirn to the Swiss Champions MC Olten. There he will join an already talented team with star players such as Michel Rhyn, Vitus Spescha, Remo Zaugg and Cedric Mathys.

Minigolfnews got the opportunity to ask some quick questions to Gunther.

HB: When will this change take effect?

GI: I will play for MC Olten from 1.1.2011. The members around Spescha Vitus and Cedric Mathys asked me in 2009 at the WC in Odense, but at the first moment I didn’t want to do this. But now, one year later I made my decision to play them and I will play for the best team in the Swiss First League and then hopefully we could make a good results at the European Team cup.

HB: What was the reason for the change of club?

GI: First of all my native language, especially my dialect, is similar to the Swiss one. So we don’t have any communication problems and its one small part for my decision.

Secondly I live in Vorarlberg, the province in the west of Austria, and its just 5 km near the border to Switzerland. If I was to change to an Austrian club playing in the Austrian Bundesliga with 6 match days all around Austria, I would have a lot more kilometers and lots of driving hours than playing with Olten. For example the distance for the autumn round in Vienna is 1300 km both ways and 12 hours to drive. In the Swiss League we play 4 match days and I only have to drive 8 hours in total for ALL rounds.

In Austria we have some teams in the first league with members from other clubs. They can play just for the league with a lended license. But the home club has to be in the same province as the club for the league. When I want to play in first league in Austria I also have to change club and I can’t play with a lended license, cause in my province Vorarlberg, there is no club in this league. And because of that, it makes no difference for me if I change to an Austrian club or to a club from other countries. So, this is the 3rd reason.

And lastly, but not least and the biggest reason for me is the Olten TEAM. I know all members from MC Olten very well, some for more than 10, 15 years, some just a couple of years, but I know them. I have fun with them also offside the course, offside minigolf. I saw them playing at the EC or WC together in the Swiss national team and I saw them playing at the Team cup in Vaduz and Vienna. And a very good team with a good spirit and players who do everything in the same way, with the same attitude is the most important thing for me!

It was a hard decision for me also, thinking to my home club Dornbirn. I was the front man of this club for many years. I was the only one at the EC and WC in the last years from Dornbirn and also from Vorarlberg. But I made a deal with them. I will make some training days for the club members and also for new members who will come. I can support them on the course and I also hope, there is still a real good friendship with all of them. At this place I want to thank all of them for everything I got and everything happened with them in past. But now after 24 years playing in Austria, it is a new part in my minigolf life. And it´s a great pleasure for me, to play in Olten! Let´s rock the courses!

HB: Thank you and good luck.
