Brown and Samuelsson wins again

Brown and Samuelsson wins again

As usual Lars Brown and Peter Samuelsson, Uppsala, won the traditional 24 hours marathon at the MunktellArena eternit course. The couple has won this competition six times before and now they made 7 titles.

This time the couple was very close not to win since they needed a sudden death against the surprising Södertälje couple of Björn Carrö and Thomas Öberg. But after 26 laps and two lanes of sudden death Lars Brown could secure the title.

In third place the Kungälv couple of Björn Dinau and Johan Ahlander came two strokes from the winning couple. Interesting to notice is also that all the three couples ended their last round with 5 misses out of 6 possible shots on lane 17 and 18, indicating some nerves was also involved.

As always the Eskilstuna marathon is delivering lots of blue rounds and this time was no exception. The wining couple had a team average of 20,3 but that is historically not so impressive. In 2007-2009 the winning teams had blue average. When Ryner and Olsson won in 2009 the winning team result was actually as low as 18,96. All in all 33 18 rounds was played and 3 double rounds of 36.

Maybe because this year’s winning result were not so extremely low, as in the past years, it was a really close competition this time with 5 teams within 4 strokes and 13 teams with team average below 21.

Best individually was Jönköpings Martin Sjöberg (19,7). Another two players managed to score a below 20 average. Björn Carrö, Södertälje and Mikael Ilmesjö, Nyköping.
