Marián Havlík from Slovakia won our vote for Minigolf Photo of the Year 2011. The photo was taken in Naturns, Italy, during Juniors European Championships 2011, showing lane 17 of the beton course through the minigolf ball which was used for playing the lane — a “glass ball” made of transparent stone-hard plastics.
The winning photo received 11,4 % of the votes, 3,8 % more than the second most voted photo “European Cup winners” by Achim Braungart-Zink, Germany. The win margin 3,8 % is the new record in the 4 years that we have organized this vote. (In the first year 2008 the winning photo received a bigger share of the votes, 12,1 %, but the win margin to the second most voted photo was 3,5 % in 2008.)
The highest ranking photos of minigolf playing action (a person playing a minigolf lane) were “Junior minigolfer” by Huub Bottenberg, Netherlands (ranked 6. with 240 votes), “Optical illusion” by Arto Borg, Finland (ranked 7. with 193 votes) and “Bianca at the bridge” by Patric Fransson, Sweden (ranked 9. with 190 votes).
116 photos by 30 different photographers were nominated for the competition, by various discussers at our forum. Of these photos minigolfnews.com staff selected 20 photos for the vote.
