Interview with Andreas Schneider (AS), Germany and SG Arheilgen

This interview was done the 10th of June 2013. Interviewer is Hans Bergström (HB).

HB: First of all congratulations to a great season of 2012 which lead to winning the title of “Junior boys player of the Year” on Minigolfnews by winning the expert vote and become second in the public vote. Did you expect to win this vote?

AS: Thanks, I did not expect that I would win the vote.

HB: So, can you tell our readers who is Andreas Schneider?

AS: I'm 20 years old, studying electrical engineering and information technology at the University of Applied Sciences. My hobbies are football, bike riding and meet with friends and of course minigolf.

HB: In the public vote you came second and in the expert vote you won. Which of the two votes do you consider the greatest honour?

AS: the expert vote for me is the greater honour, clearly it would be nice to have a few more fans.

HB: Can you tell us about the YWC in Bad Münder last year. What happened there with your own wording?

AS: I was just focused on my game and was able to show my full strength.

HB: Many internet spectators, including me, viewing the results from YWC in Bad Münder was quite amazed with the quality of the results. How do you think these winning team results for the German Girls and Boys will stand the comparison with the best teams in the World Championships in General Class played at the same courses this summer?

AS: I think the men are playing better than the youth boys. They will beat our scores by far. The ladies will play just as well or better than as the girls did.

HB: You are this year no longer a junior but competing in general class. How hard is it for you coming from the junior team to take a place in the national team of Germany in general class?

AS: It is more difficult than in youth, they have more experience and play all of a very high level. The competition is great because there are many good players.

HB: What do you think about the ending of the Bundesliga for your team Arheilgen ?

AS: I think we will take second place this year.

HB: So how do you feel about the upcoming season? How does your season planning look like for 2013?

AS: I'm looking forward to the next season, unfortunately I have next season not much time, have to concentrate on my studies, but still will play all game days.

HB: If you could recruit any player in the world, as long as it’s not a German, to play for your club SG Arheilgen, who would you pick?

AS: I would not change this team. It has much class as it is currently, we are all very well and have fun together.

HB: What happens next for you in Minigolf?

AS: Next season I try to play more tournaments to improve my game

HB: Again a big congratulation to winning the expert jury part of vote for “Junior Boy player of the Year” on Minigolfnews and good luck in the future.

AS: Thank you.

The very hot (around 30°C!) final league weekend was played on the home course of MC Eichholz Gerlafingen, the biggest rival of MC Olten, the last years. An old, tough course with squared bends instead of pipe bends, not easy for playing constantly low rounds. The ...
