Today a WMF Newsflash has been publish with the most interesting information from last weekends TC meeting. In brief the following major issues have been discussed.

* A second championship title for the strokeplay champion additionally to the matchplay champion at each championships could not find a majority at the TC meeting.

* The forms for WADA and media acceptance, which had to be signed by each participant of all International Championships 2009 will be restructured. From 2010 until 2014 the form has to be signed by each participant of the International Championships only once and is valid until 31.12.2014. The persons who have signed will be published in an overview list on WMF website.

* The support program for less experienced minigolf nations at Championships, which was recommended by Wolfgang Wicki / Switzerland were decided and the project
is going to be established 2010 at EC and YWC.

* The Championships invitations 2010 are scheduled for publication until the end of February 2010.

* Revision of felt golf rules is ongoning and will be prepared for final decision at WMF Delegates’ Conference 2011 in Stockholm.

* TC has worked on Czech motion to Delegates’ Conference 2009 in Odense to allow playertransfers on loan to foreign team leagues.

* To organize an NC in the same year should not be mandatory any more for applications for World or Continental Championships.

* TC will plan and promote a “World Adventuregolf Masters” each year beginning with 2011.

Would Holland be one of these 'small' minigolfnations? So we could get help from the bigger ones? :)

I assume that it is the USPMGA World Putting Championships plan, or that together with WCGC, which finally convinced WMF of the unavoidability of adventure golf as a part of the international major tournament scene.

World Adventure Golf Masters, eh?
Looks like World Crazy Golf Championships 2009 may have caused a bit of a stir then!

Yes. 2 days team. The best 32 men and 16 women qualify for the strokeplay final on friday. 4 rounds starting from scratch. Then the 16 best men and the 8 best women play matchplay final on saturday...

At least there is one good thing with the decision. Now it’s easy to state who is the champion. If we would have had two, one of them would have been worth less in the player’s eyes. If this would have been the match play champion (I am not saying that it would have been), the Saturday games would have been not as intense as today. If we would have had two champions my suggestion to cover what Peter argues would have been to stop the team play already on Thursday leaving Friday for individual stroke play finals and Saturday for KO-finals.

In tennis they play much more than 18 ball rallies per match, though.

We have an option here: World Adventure Golf Masters can be the strokeplay game. With a golf ball only... dream on baby.

Well, you have a point there Peter. But in the good old days, when the strokeplay champion was crowned, it was also based on the results of the team competition, so nothing would change.

It would just be like before, with an additional matchplay champion.

I find it difficult to ad a strokeplay champion based on the results of a team competion. I was a spectator this year in Odense, and I saw many players playing 2 different games. In the team competition for example I noticed that the swedish team played with a lay up on felt course 17 - playing for a safe 2. In the matchplay matches, the same players played to win the whole. I can imagine situations where players have to "sacrifice" their own game in thoughts of what is better for team. To use these results to find a strokeplay champion is in my opinion more unjust than finding the Individual champion in matchplay ... Matchplay has its own life ... If I compaire to Tennis, its also not the player ranked as nr. 1 in the world who nessesarily wins the majors ...

There was also something positive in the air, World Adventure Golf Masters could keep the minigolf world in one piece. Some adventure golfers have been planning to walk their own way already...
