Miroslav Čibik takes Minigolf Photo of the Year 2009

Unusual themes were the key to top positions in the vote for Minigolf Photo of the Year 2009. Miroslav Čibik, a 15 years old boy from Slovakia, took the first place in the vote, with photo of a player making aggressive gestures after an unlucky situation in minigolf. This photo attracted 9.5% of the votes, where the theoretical maximum was 18.2% (10 points from each 10+9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1 points).
Johann Pfanzelt from Austria took second place, collecting 8.5% of the votes with his photo of a minigolfer playing from deep waters at a flooded minigolf course. Erik Tiekstra of Netherlands received 8.2% of the votes, with a photo from a winter competion on a minigolf course covered in snow.
20 photos were nominated to the vote by Minigolfnews.com staff, based on submissions from the public at our discussion forum some weeks before the vote. » results and photos of the vote » user profile of Miroslav Čibik

16 Feb 2010 at 09:45 | I just realized that I probably have been there when the winning photo was taken. It definitely is from the beautiful Cheb concrete course, host of the SEC and SNC 2010. If I am not mistaking, that must be the legendary coach match on Saturday afternoon at Czech Junior Trophy. The player in picture is one of the local club players. The coach match was played as a one-ball round and if I remember correctly, it was won with a score of 26 or 27! |
