Minigolfnews are delighted to announce two trophies that will be presented by its staff at the upcoming World Adventure Golf Masters at Horni Bezdekov, Czech Republic, over the weekend of June 16-17.
With at least two MGN staffers taking part and combined with the start of the FIFA World Cup, we have decided to have a couple of fun competitions to run alongside the main World Adventure Golf Masters, which will be in its eighth running.
The first is the singles knockout cup, running over rounds 1 to 6, and involves everyone who takes part. We will draw the pairings on the evening of June 15th, probably after dinner and during half time of the Portugal - Spain football match. We'll be flexible on the timings. In your pairing, whoever scores the lowest will advance. In the event of a tie, whoever had more aces will advance. In the event of a further tie, it will be sudden death by what you did at the first hole, and then the second hole and so on. If you are still tied after the whole round, I'll despair and will go to a best of three coin toss. No ties, please!
The second is the World Cup of Minigolf, a team event. With the teams being declared on the Friday, we will draw the teams into groups of up to four teams. At the moment, we don't know how many will be taking part but the process is already in place. Effectively, if you are first out in your team of four, your score will go up against your opponents first player. If scores are tied, both players score 0. If you win by 1-5, you score a goal. If you win by 6-10, you score two goals. If you win by 11+, you score a hat trick. Add all the players together and that gives you a final score. Sounds confusing but don't worry, I've worked it all out so at least I understand it (don't worry, Cameron, I'll explain as we go along).
Minigolfnews has taken into consideration the awkwardness of bringing back trophies through customs at the airport and we confidently predict that these are the smallest sports trophies ever to be handed out. Not even joking, they are no bigger than my thumb, And for the victors, they will be yours to keep forever.
Minigolfnews are really looking forward to the event so expect lots of build up, blogs and photos from the WAGM as the world converges on Horni Bezdekov.
