The Südtirol minigolf autumn close the 2011 edition with the international tournament "Raiffaisen Trophae" in Algund.
This is a very old tournament, being the 41st edition, played on a very new course.
The new combi course (miniaturegolf+filzgolf) in Algund has been just finished end of September so this was the very first official tournament on it.
The course is very nice, placed in the middle of apple crop grounds and near the river Adige, from a place you can see all the surrounding mountains.
99 players coming from Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland took part in this tournament that was played with nice and not so cold weather.
The main character of this tournament has been Alexander Geist (BGS Hardenberg-Pötters) who dominated the elite men category with the best overall score, a very good 197 in 9 rounds (21.9 average) which is pretty significant on a brand new course.
Alex played a really good 84 in the last 4 rounds that gave him the victory with 4 strokes advantage on Mario Dangl (PSV Steyr) and 8 on Ralf Geissler (1.MGC Metzingen) that completed an all-foreign podium.
Best italians have been the home player Alex Lang and Alberto Pirovano that missed the superfinal round by just one stroke.
German victories also in the senior ladies I category with Maria Spieleder 1. BGC Bad Füssing , 237 strokes and in the senior men II category with Bernhard Schütterle BGC Rheinau Freistett with 233 strokes.
Austrian players could celebrate three victories:
- on senior men I category, with Hermann Turtscher (BGSC Klaus) , 215 strokes
- on ladies elite category with the still youth player Lara Jehle (BGSC Klaus) with 209 strokes
- on senior ladies II category with Renate Widek UBGC Baden with 253 strokes
The only victories for Italian players came from the youth categories with Fabian Schupfer (junior men), Alex Riedl (schoolboys) and Nadia Neumair (schoolgirls) all from SSV Naturns.
Italian victory on the team event thanks to the home team of AMV Algund (Roland Mittelberger, Alex Lang, Roland Brunello, Roland Gasser) that easily took the victory using the better knowledge of the new hom course in the best way.
Italian season will continue next weekend with International Trophy in Vergiate.
