19 Jan 2012 at 16:39 | The flight to London is not very expensive actually. But it is true that Americans lack economical support from their national organizations to travel to this event, while the leading European players get travel costs covered by their national minigolf federation. |

19 Jan 2012 at 16:10 | Very interesting. Permitting ball selection would definitely hurt an American's chances since we are not familiar with (nor do we own) minigolf balls. Still, just more than 6 aces a round won this event in 2011... Only money and time prevents American's from travelling overseas to play. |

19 Jan 2012 at 15:50 | Nothing prevents PPA pros from participating. You just need to pay the membership fee of USPMGA. (Like all those PPA pros do, who play any USPMGA events.) And then follow the registration procedure specified in the invitation.
A reason why an American might have a hard time to win is the fact that special minigolf balls are allowed, and they give you an essential advantage. I cover this aspect in my blog Laissez-faire WMF WAGM (link is found in the left column, under Latest blog posts) -- I actually travelled there last year with PPA-compatible equipment, a steel putter and golf balls. Half a day of practice was enough to convince me that this equipment would not be enough to win anything there. |

19 Jan 2012 at 14:19 | Judging only from the photos, this looks like a very fun and fair course. Looking at the scores, it's too bad PPA pros can't fly overseas to compete. I believe an American would win. | Add comment | To add comments, you need to log in.
