There are about 300 recesses on one golf ball, and thanks to them, the ball flies three times farther than a smooth one. ... Balls of the same size...

The date and location for USPMGA US Open are confirmed

United States of America 22 Jan 2009 at 16:34 | Published by: Blondie | Views: 8747 | News search

The date and location for USPMGA US Open are confirmed After dissappointing news about cancellation of USPMGA US Open in Sedona, I have good news:

The date and location for USPMGA US Open are confirmed. US OPEN 2009 will be held on July 11th - 12th, in Worth, Illinois at the Ball Fore Course at the Chicago Ridge Park Course.
The street address is Ball Fore Minigolf course, 6701 W 107th Street, Worth , IL. The tournament Director is Kevin King and his phone number is + 708/932-3808.

Total cash purse will be $7,000.
In order to participate, all players have to be registered by July 8th (this includes tournament fees), and USPMGA dues must be paid before that at the USPMGA office in Myrtle Beach.
Tournament Director Keving King is the man of the principles. Last year we had several players who were not allowed to play and were sent back home because they missed sign up deadline. Same will be true this year, independently of the distance traveled.

Keving King is working on accomodation arrangements. This info will be provided as soon it is available.

Absolutely. I guess that some PPA players will play the USPMGA event so you'll need your A game.

Chicago is much closer to my home and less expensive. About 2 hours one way (depending on traffic ) is not too bad. I am sure I will have as much fun there as in Lake Charles. Good luck to you in Lake Charles!

Two things. I must admit I haven't been to area of the Ball Fore course in a long time. That being said, I would not be afraid to go there. Be aware, don't act stupid and have a good time... Secondly, the Lake Charles format will be PPA Western Tour qualifying events. A 54 hole medal play tournament on Saturday, with the top two players earning 'spots' into the Western Tour Championship, followed by match play for the 3rd through 18th players trying for two more 'spots'. Sunday will be a 54 hole qualifying tournament with the top three places earning 'spots'. Sunday afternoon is the "Tournament Players Championship" which is a match play event for the Western Tour's 12 highest ranking players. The qualifying tournaments generally pay the top half of the field, and depending on the number of participants first place will be between $170 and $300. I promise the competition in Lake Charles will be much better than in Illinois. Information regarding the PPA's four regional tours as well as PPA National Events is found at www.proputters.com.

Jeffrey, thanks for update. This was not the impression I got from district employees last year when Tom was last on his way to the course but it is good to know from somebody who knows area well.
Many of players wanted event scheduled the same date as Sedona as they already planned free time for that, including some PPA players. What is the prize money for Lake Charles and format?

I was born and raised in the Chicago area (I've lived in Dallas, Texas for 24 years) and nobody has to worry about this being an unsafe area. This is a park district location designed to be family friendly. Don't go on a sightseeing walk into other southside of Chicago neighborhoods and everything should be fine...Unfortunately, I won't be playing as our PPA Western Tour has events the same weekend in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Now if you want to play against better competition in the USA that weekend, come to Lake Charles!

Hi JJM and Tiek., JUNGLE IS SAFER. Not too far there is "ghetto". I would have to ask Tom exact whereabouts. The immediate vicinity is safe. As long as you take expressway and major roads, you will be ok.

"Safe" area...Doesn't sounds that much fun to be in a not so safe area. Talking about ghetto's?
