World Crazy Golf Championship:
In June I had a nice 2 weeks long holiday for minigolf, and first I played the WCGC in Hastings, which is a great event. I spent about 2,5 days with practice, and I was satisfied with my results, I had a few rounds of 32, and managed to hit 30 once. 3-4 rounds without a drop, so it looked really great, as a preparation.
Then it’s hard to get an excuse for why I played so badly during the tournament. Maybe I was too nervous and that didn’t help. I’ll need to work on my mindset for sure. For the novice event, I scored 37,35,35 and missed the cut by 1 point. Ouch. At least my friend Marton reached the final round. The second day was just a tiny bit better, after being on -1 on the first day, on my second day I made -3 and finished overall with a -4. 45th place. Not great. At least I moved a bit forward on the rankings, and I’m 37th at the moment, what is the best position for me so far after 2 years.
World Adventure Golf Masters:
We had a long journey from Hastings to Kuopio (Finland), but at least we didn’t have any issues. We practiced on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday until 5pm, then we went to the opening ceremony, which was a great event. On Thursday sadly we only played 1 round as practice, then the weather was really bad, too rainy. We had a photo session, the technical meeting, and then we were relaxing for the rest of the day.
I felt I didn’t have enough practice as we missed the opportunity on Thursday, but sometimes you don’t have too much choice. I played a tiny bit better on the WAGM than in Hastings, but I didn’t achieve too much, the level of the competition was really high. Before the tournament, the goal was to be under par (every round if possible). In the end, I had 1 round over par, and overall a score of -11.
On the last day in Kuopio, we managed to discover the town a bit, sadly we had bad weather most of the week. I really enjoyed using the e-scooters there, they are great with low traffic and quicker, cheaper than the buses. This time of the year in Kuopio there is constant daylight, that was a weird experience. Overall, it was a good week there, Finland is a lovely country.
The next stop is the UrbanCrazy Cardiff Open next weekend, it’s the annual tournament of the Welsh Minigolf Club. It’s not too late if you want to register, please check this link for details:
