After this weekend’s round two in Elitserien Uppsala is now very close to secure the 2012 ELitserien victory. But it didn’t start well. The unbeaten team this year from Uppsala, lost the first match against home club Kungälv and then also lost one point by a quite lucky draw against Jönköping in the third match. But after that Uppsala once again showed their team strength by winning all remaining matches against all the higher ranked teams in the league.
The eternit course in Kungälv is well known for the home players and it was expected that they would be one of the best teams this weekend. But maybe a bit surprising that they were the best team with 11 points and 735 strokes. However they were not the only team with exactly this result, also Uppsala got 11 points and 735 strokes.
The weather forecast for Sunday was not good so therefore the competition managers together with the teams and the referee took the decision to try to play all matches on Saturday. Probably a wise decision because the rain started in the evening after all matches was done.
Before this weekend the team from Skoghall was in second position, but this Saturday will be a playing day the want to forget as soon as possible. Only four point’s leads to that the Skoghall team is now only on 5th position and even if they have home ground in the last round it will be though to take the silver position for the European cup.
On this silver position we now find Södertälje after a solid playing day with 8 points. But Kungälv is only on point on third and Sjöviken is three points behind on fourth. This setup will lead to a highly interesting last round in July on beton.
Tantogården made a quite good weekend (8 points) as also Jönköping only lost two games but eneded in only 7 points after tree draws. This means that Jönköping are now in a really challenging position with 3 points up to Tantogården for still be in next year’s Elitserien. Already last and probably will stay there is newcomer Sundbyberg.
The individual rankings where dominated by home team Kungälv and Uppsala with Björn Dinau as best player of the weekend with an 20,1 average. There were quite many 19 rounds but only two 18 rounds, both played by the same player Daniel Ågren of Södertälje
The team of the week is:
1. Björn Dinau, Kungälv, 20,1
2. Linus Sundström, Kungälv, 20,4
3. Carl-Johan Ryner, Uppsala, 20,6
4. Marcus Larsson, Uppsala, 20,7
5. Filip Johansson, Sjöviken, 20,7
Next round will be played in Skoghall on beton the 21-22 of July.
