Interview with Lucas Larsson (WMF Youth Re-Post)

In part 5 our series of re-posts of the youth interviews from the WMF Youth Facebook page, we have an interview with Lukas Larsson, a 15 year-old who many see as having a very bright future in the sport. In case you missed the fourth in the series, you can catch it here. The following interview can also be found here.

Club: Gullbergsbro BGK
Birth year: 2002

Q1: How and when did you start to play Minigolf?

LL: I started playing minigolf about five years ago. It was my brother that introduced me to minigolf. It became more fun every time I visited the course and after a month or so I was totally stuck into it.

Q2: What club do you use when you play and what is your favourite ball?

LL: I use the NIFO Ryner club and my favourite ball is my own new ball (made together with some other Swedish minigolf friends of mine), the “Team West Junior Collection #1”.

Q3: What surface do you prefer the most? Follow-up question: Do you have a personal best (PB) that you are particularly proud of?

LL: My favourite surface is felt. Concrete is also fun when its good weather. But due to the always shifting weather conditions in Sweden, Concrete isn't that fun here. So, when I get the opportunity to play it in fair conditions I really enjoy it.

Q4: Have you ever had a role model you looked up to during your early years? Maybe this person still is an inspiration for you today?

LL: My first role model was Filiph Svensson and it still is, because of his mental strength and fighting spirit on the course.

Q5: What is your biggest merit within Minigolf? (Doesn’t need to be related to competition)

LL: My biggest team merit is when I was a part of the Swedish youth team last summer in Askim when we won the YEC team gold medal. As an individual player, my greatest merit is when I won the last Swedish indoor Championships, I think.

Q6: What is your best/strongest memory from your years being a youth player?

LL: The Swedish team gold from last summer’s YEC. That was just a fantastic feeling on so many levels. I will never forget it.

Last Question: What is it about Minigolf that makes it so special?

LL: The special and funniest thing with this sport is that it is very social. It is fantastic that you almost get new friends at every new competition you play. It is also fun that it is a sport for all people in different ages.
