Bavarian (Bayern) championships in south-eastern Germany

Regional championships of Bavaria (Bayer) in south-eastern Germany were played at the beton and eternite courses of Neutraubling.

Sven Helldörfer won men’s competition with average score 28.75 on beton and 25.50 at the seemingly very difficult eternite course. Wolfgang Reiss was second in men, after a tied score and sudden death play-off against Helldörfer. Frederick Miessner was third, four points behind the winner, after a tied score and sudden death play-off against Markus Obeth and Uwe Grimme.

Winner in women’s competition was Christiane Wamboldt, with average 30.75 on beton and 26.00 on eternite. Claudia Weinzierl was second, 12 points behind the winner, and Silvia Haller was third 6 points behind Weinzierl.

The eternit course was very difficult. As were the weather conditions, we had very strong wind (as obviously for example Wien as well), had to stop playing on Thursday at 13.00 and could play on Friday only under very difficult conditions. The results were better on Saturday, but still a total of 100 "sevens" was reached. This you can see in BA statistics, where you have to deduct 15 sevens, which were caused by one player's injury and non-finish. This leaves 74 sevens on eternite (statistics are intact), 35 of them on "V without V". You can imagine that it was also very interesting in tournament office to follow this all. Would have been and will be interesting to play the course myself too in some competition. Frank Ziegler actually played a moral 18 by acing lanes 1 to 18 in a row, but in statistics this round was cut to halves (both ended with 22) due to shotgun start.
