Olivia- the first lady to win US Open in Open division.

United States of America 16 May 2011 at 20:44 | Published by: Blondie | Views: 15238 | News search

Olivia- the first lady to win US Open in Open division. USPMGA US Open Championship this year traveled to Greatest Adventures Mini Golf in Branson, MO. Tournament Director Robert Alderman was hosting his first tournament and a major event and did a great job. Thank you to Greatest Adventures Team! Also thank you to Outback Steakhouse for meals on the course!

One of the first to arrive to Branson was Olivia Prokopova and her team- three weeks before event. Brad Lebo was very concerned that his arrival for practice week before event was two weeks late.

Our first warm up event was two round Pro-Am tournament on May 12th where Olivia already dominated the field, leaving Matt McCaslin second and Rainey Statum 3rd.

The actual US Open has been very challenging to everyone. The course presented surprises everywhere, so well planned course maps helped to get closer to winners circle. Chilly conditions with winds 25 mph and gusts even more did not help either. But the weather didn't scare the best players.

Olivia started with one point lead over Brad Lebo, then after three rounds Brad was leading by two points. It went back and forth with both players having their ups and downs and the title was decided in the last round. Olivia Prokopova was losing two strokes to Brad going in the last round. Brad seemed to lose his cool around hole 11 which Olivia aced and he earned three strokes. The next hole added to Brad's misery with another 3 and being tied with Olivia. Olivia and Rainy aced #13 leaving Brad with very little statistical chances on very uncooperative hole- 2 strokes. May be Brad should not have practiced his swing too hard during the National anthem and saved some energy for tournament. Although Brad put up a good fight, three weeks of practice time gave Olivia great advantage over the rest of the field majority of whom would not be able to afford that long of trip even in their own country financially or get off the work for three weeks.

Olivia won the event in tough competition. Congratulations!

It is so rare that a woman wins the total competition in any sport, this could get publicity in pro-women circles or even in the big media from this viewpoint, worth a try.

Obviously, preparation is important in any mini golf tournament. However, the only thing that matters is results. Olivia 'learned' one stroke better than Brad. Congrats to Olivia for her victory.

Well done Olivia - fantastic result! :)

Just out of curiosity can someone ask Brad Lebo if he thinks that what Olivia learnt in three weeks was more than he could learn in one? Thanks.
