The two leading pairs, Kosti Salonen & Gustav Björnberg and Oskari Vihervaara & Riku Pennanen, ended up in tied total score after 24 rounds of Finnish Eternite Marathon in Rahola, Tampere, on 4 – 5 February 2012. Kosti and Gustav won the sudden death at 5th play-off lane, and renewed their victory of this tournament from last year.
Kosti Salonen has won this international competition 5 years in a row, with three different playing partners: with Gustav Björnberg 2011 - 2012, with Riku Pennanen 2008 & 2010, and with Ari Åman 2009.
The overnight tournament is played non-stop for some 28 hours in a row, and of each pair one player is playing while the other is resting or sleeping. 52 players participated this year: 36 from Finland, 9 from Germany, 6 from Italy, and 1 from Sweden. Some handicap points were given to players of lower skill categories.
Individually the best players of the competition were 1. Kosti Salonen (average 21.33), 2. Oskari Vihervaava (avg 21.58) and 3. Riku Pennanen (avg 21.83). » results
